Programs for Bachelor of Preventive Medicine (Five-year)

  • Training objectives

At the end of the course students will be:

  • Adaptive to the needs of development of medical health having good quality of professional ethics, spirit of innovation, practical abilities and independent learning capabilities
  • Familiar with basic theories, knowledge and techniques of basic medicine, clinical medicine and preventive medicine
  • Expert in public health practice, disease prevention and control, public health security and improvement
  • Qualified for work in the field of disease prevention and control, health promotion and other relative works in public health
  • Basic business requirements

Students are required to learn basic medicine, clinical medicine and preventive medicine. They should have a good command of basic theories and technologies of preventive medicine, nutrition and food hygiene, and health inspection, have abilities to solve practical issues of public health and preventive medicine, and also have initially acquired abilities to analyze and process public health emergencies. Students should meet basic requirements for national licensed practitioner in preventive medicine and obtain the following knowledge and abilities:

  • To grasp the solid basic theories and systematic specialized knowledge of prevention medicine, and to grasp theoretical knowledge of modern preventive medicine and related disciplines
  • To monitor and supervise hygienic conditions of work, daily life and learning, and also food health and security
  • Be able to analyze values of food nutrition, develop food resources and make diet nutrition design and identification
  • Be able to analyze influence factors of people’s health and epidemiology of diseases, and to enact measures and make plans to prevent diseases and promote health
  • To grasp management approaches of modern public health and basic techniques, and should be able to independent work on fieldwork of public health, to identify and solve problems with learned knowledge, and to analyze and process public health emergencies
  • Be familiar with basic theories of clinical medicine and prevention and control technology of common disease, frequently-occurring disease
  • Be able to conduct health inspection and medical examinations
  • Be familiar with English, document retrieval, data query, computer application and statistics analysis
  • Be familiar with national health work policy and regulation, and preferably experience in psychology and social communications
  • Be potentiated to do initially innovative researches in the field of public health and preventive medicine

Major disciplines: basic medicine, clinical medicine, public health and preventive medicine

Main courses: physiology, biochemistry, anthropotomy, pathogeny biology, pharmacology, pathology, internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, paidology, lemology, health statistics, epidemiology, environmental hygiene, occupational health and occupational medicine, nutrition and food hygiene, hygiene toxicology, microbiology, hygienic chemistry.

  • Preventive medicine (major orientation 1):children and adolescent health, women health care, health education, health service management
  • Health inspection (major orientation 2):air physical and chemical inspection, water physical and chemical inspection, virology examination, bacteriology examination, Analysis of Biological Materials, clinical laboratory techniques
  • Nutrition and food science (major orientation 3):fundamental nutrition, applied human nutrition, food hygiene, food physical and chemical analysis, clinical nutriology
  • Profession feature

Preventive medicine, health inspection, nutrition and food science are the three orientations of the major. Early stage convergence and late stage distributaries was adopted as cultivation mode. We emphasis on cultivating solid theoretical foundations and abundant medical knowledge for students; pay great attention to training them comprehensive abilities in practices of public health and preventive medicine and value innovation capacity increasing.

Having good quality of physical and morality, fit for school criterions of morality and physical education Completion of every teaching link in the program, and finish all required 256 credits within schedule, including 207 credits of theory teaching and 49 credits of practice teaching. Major of prevention medicine (Health inspection orientation) (5 years) required to complete of every teaching link in the program, and finish all required 263 credits within schedule, including 214 credits of theory teaching and 49 credits of practice teaching. Major of prevention medicine (Nutrition and food science orientation) (5 years) required to complete of every teaching link in the program, and finish all required 257.5 credits within schedule, including 208.5 credits of theory teaching and 49 credits of practice teaching.
