On October 13, 2021, the Key Laboratory of radiobiology of the National Health Commission held the second meeting of the fifth academic committee of the key laboratory in Yunuo Hotel, Changchun, Jilin Province. Professor Ma Qingjie, director of the Key Laboratory of radiobiology of the National Health Commission, Professor Su Xu, Professor Shao Chunlin, Professor Xu Bo, Professor Liu Xiaodong, Professor Gong Lei, Professor Jin shunzi, Professor Jiang Xin and associate professor Shen Yannan attended the meeting. In addition, Professor Liu Yawen, President of the school of public health Professor Liu Jinyu, vice president, and directors of various departments of the Department.

The meeting was chaired by Professor Jin shunzi, chairman of the Department of radiology. First of all, the moderator introduced the leaders and experts attending the meeting, and Professor Ma Qingjie, the new director of the key laboratory, delivered a speech on behalf of the key laboratory, thanking and welcoming the leaders and experts from afar. At the meeting, President Liu Yawen made clear the pivotal position of the key laboratory in the college, said that the college would always pay great attention to and support the development of the key laboratory, affirmed the achievements of the laboratory, and thanked the alumni for their support behind these achievements.

Subsequently, Associate Professor Shen Yannan, deputy director of the key laboratory, reported from four aspects: laboratory profile, laboratory scientific research team, research direction and content, talent introduction and talent training. After the report, members of the academic committee reviewed and discussed the laboratory work and put forward valuable opinions and suggestions. Researcher Su Xu was pleased with the stage results of the laboratory and hoped that the follow-up research data in the application direction of key laboratories would be sorted out and published for more output. Professor Shao Chunlin said that the scientific research level of key laboratories should be more in-depth and systematic, and the contribution of key laboratories to the national first-class discipline of radiation medicine should be emphasized. He hoped to combine radiation health and radiation biology research, and he believed that there would be many new achievements. Professor Xu Bo proposed that the key laboratory should make good use of the multi-disciplinary platform of Jilin University, strengthen the cooperation between the key laboratory and the school of clinical medicine and other colleges, and maintain the characteristic advantages of radiobiology of the key laboratory. Professor Liu Xiaodong suggested that we should consider how to connect radiobiology with clinical medicine, and explain the biological basis clearly. Professor Jiang Xin pointed out that we should make use of the existing conditions, strengthen cooperation and strengthen interdisciplinary resource sharing to deal with the evaluation of key laboratories. Based on his own experience in teaching evaluation, Professor Gong Lei believes that we should benchmark and table as soon as possible, strengthen social services and strengthen talent introduction measures, especially for young talents with development potential.

Finally, vice president Liu Jinyu thanked the experts for their opinions and suggestions, and made a summary and outlook on the major national needs, social services, key laboratory evaluation and resource integration. The meeting was successfully concluded in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. It is believed that the key laboratory will make greater contributions to the development of radiation medicine and radiation protection in China under the leadership of the University and the college and the guidance of the academic committee!
