On December 6, 2023, the Young Scholars Association (YSA) of the School of Public Health, Jilin University, successfully held the 26th session of exchange activities in the second-floor Radiobiology Conference Room at the School. This event was conducted in a hybrid format (online and offline) and was jointly organized with the YSA of the School of Public Health, Xinjiang Medical University, under the framework of the Jilin University-Xinjiang Medical University High-Level Public Health School Joint Construction Project. Eleven young faculty members from our YSA participated offline in this exchange activity, which was hosted by YSA Vice President Li Jinhua.

This exchange activity invited Professor Tao Ning from the Department of Epidemiology and Health Statistics at Xinjiang Medical University. Professor Tao Ning has long been engaged in research on chronic disease epidemiology and tumor epidemiology. In recent years, she has led or participated in more than 10 national and autonomous region-level projects, and has published over 40 papers as corresponding author or first author, including more than 10 SCI papers. She is a "Teaching Master" at Xinjiang Medical University, has been awarded the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Outstanding Youth Project and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Young Science and Technology Top Talent Project, and has received the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Excellent Postdoctoral Special Funding.

Professor Tao Ning shared her research under the theme "Xinjiang Oil, Exploring the Future with 'Carbon'," presenting how her research group uses cohort data integration and multi-dimensional data analysis and prediction to reveal the causes of hypertension among Xinjiang oil workers from environmental, genetic, and behavioral perspectives. Her research leverages Xinjiang's distinctive energy and environmental advantages, and is dedicated to addressing major health issues among occupational populations, focusing on oilfield health issues and fully reflecting regional characteristics. Young scholars from both schools subsequently engaged in lively discussions on chronic disease epidemiological cohort studies and model development and application, and expressed anticipation for further collaboration. This activity promoted young scholars' in-depth discussion of chronic disease epidemiology and also provided a platform for better future exchanges and cooperation between the two schools.
