Jilin University School of Public Health 2023 National Excellent College Students Summer Camp

In order to further improve the quality of master's student enrollment at our university, deepen young students' understanding of our School's cutting-edge research achievements, and attract and select outstanding undergraduate students to pursue master's degrees at our School, we will hold a Summer Camp in 2023.

I. Introduction to the School

The School of Public Health, Jilin University, was founded in 1958. Through the efforts of several generations, it has developed into a teaching and research base for public health and related disciplines with strong comprehensive strength and distinctive features. Over more than 60 years of development, it has cultivated a large number of professionals in the field of public health and preventive medicine for the country. The School currently has three postdoctoral research stations: Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Basic Medicine (Radiomedicine), and Public Administration (Social Medicine and Health Management). It offers a doctoral degree program at the first-level discipline of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, as well as two second-level doctoral programs in Radiomedicine and Social Medicine and Health Management. Master's degree programs are offered in the following majors: Epidemiology and Health Statistics, Occupational and Environmental Health, Health Toxicology, Nutrition and Food Hygiene, Medical Informatics, Special Medicine, Social Medicine and Health Management, and the Professional Master of Public Health (MPH) degree.

II. Eligibility Requirements

  1. Applicants must possess good moral character, abide by laws and regulations, maintain sound physical and mental health, and have no disciplinary records during their undergraduate studies. Applicants should have a strong interest in academic research, good professional competence, a strong sense of innovation and creativity, and high potential for further development.

  2. Participants in the 2023 Summer Camp should be outstanding final-year undergraduate students eligible for recommendation for admission without examination (exemption from the entrance exam) in 2024, or students with excellent academic performance who plan to take the national master's entrance examination.

  3. Applicants must have a good command of English, with a score of 425 or above on the National College English Test (CET-4) or equivalent.

  4. The admission principle for the intended majors in this Summer Camp is that applicants must meet the requirements of the 2024 Graduate Admission Directory.

  5. Majors open for the 2023 Summer Camp:

  • Epidemiology and Health Statistics

  • Occupational and Environmental Health

  • Nutrition and Food Hygiene

  • Medical Informatics

  • Social Medicine and Health Management

  • Public Health (Professional Degree)

III. Schedule

The Summer Camp will be held between June 26 and July 3, 2023, in an online remote video format, with virtual exchange activities lasting approximately one day. The main activities include introductions to the School and its disciplines, presentations of personal academic capabilities, online face-to-face exchanges with young scholars, and evaluation of outstanding campers. The specific dates will be announced separately.

IV. Relevant Policies

The School will evaluate applicants based on their submitted materials and overall performance during the Summer Camp to determine the list of outstanding campers. Those who meet the relevant requirements for Jilin University's recommendation for exemption from the master's entrance examination and the School's policies may be directly admitted as "recommended students" to the School of Public Health, Jilin University. The intended major filled in the application form will serve as a reference for the final admission major. All recommended students admitted will receive an academic scholarship in their first year.

V. Application Method

  1. Online Registration

Students applying for the Summer Camp must complete their registration through Jilin University's "Summer Camp Registration System" (https://yzb.jlu.edu.cn/) by 8:00 on June 15, 2023. Applicants who do not register through this system will not be admitted. Please note that all information in the electronic application materials must be completely consistent with the online registration information; otherwise, the application may be affected.

  1. Submission of Materials

(1) 2023 National Excellent College Students Summer Camp Application Form (Attachment 1);

(2) One official academic transcript, stamped with the official seal of the Academic Affairs Office;

(3) Other supporting documents – proof of foreign language proficiency (CET-4/CET-6 certificates, etc.), award certificates, and published papers.

Please arrange the above application materials in the order listed. After all signatures and seals are obtained, scan or photograph the documents in color (PDF format). Name the document as follows: "HomeInstitution_Name_SummerCamp" and send the electronic version to 1179853401@qq.com (email subject line: "HomeInstitution_Name_SummerCamp").

The deadline for receiving all electronic materials is 8:00 on June 15, 2023.

VI. Other Matters

The School will review applicants' qualifications based on their academic performance, research capabilities, and other factors. The shortlist will be announced before June 25, along with the Summer Camp schedule and online remote operation procedures. Please check for updates regularly. Candidates who are not admitted to the camp will not be notified separately.

Students applying for the Summer Camp are requested to join the QQ group "JLU Public Health Summer Camp" (Group Number: 783580616) promptly after submitting their electronic materials. Upon joining, please change your group nickname to "Name_HomeInstitution." If there are any changes to the Summer Camp schedule, we will notify you promptly through the group.
