In order to further improve the quality of master's student enrollment, deepen young students' understanding of our School's disciplines and cutting-edge achievements, and attract outstanding undergraduate students to pursue master's degrees at our School, we will hold a Campus Academic Open Day in August 2025.
I. Introduction to the School
The School of Public Health, Jilin University, traces its origins to the School of Preventive Medicine of Norman Bethune Medical University, founded in 1958. It began enrolling undergraduate students in 1960, its first cohort of master's students in 1978, and its first cohort of doctoral students in 1984. In 2020, it was designated as a project unit for the Ministry of Education's High-Level Applied Public Health Talent Training Innovation Program, and in 2022, it was selected as one of the national high-level public health schools for construction. The School currently comprises four departments: Preventive Medicine, Radiomedicine, Medical Informatics, and Social Medicine and Health Law. It has three postdoctoral research stations: the Postdoctoral Research Station for the First-Level Discipline of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, the Postdoctoral Research Station for the First-Level Discipline of Basic Medicine (Radiomedicine), and the Postdoctoral Research Station for Social Medicine and Health Management (a second-level discipline under Public Administration). The School offers doctoral degree programs at the first-level discipline of Public Health and Preventive Medicine (including five second-level disciplines: Epidemiology and Health Statistics, Occupational and Environmental Health, Nutrition and Food Hygiene, Health Toxicology, and Medical Informatics), as well as two second-level doctoral programs in Radiomedicine and Social Medicine and Health Management. It also offers master's degree programs at the first-level discipline level in Public Health and Preventive Medicine (including the aforementioned five second-level disciplines) and Special Medicine, two second-level master's programs in Radiomedicine and Social Medicine and Health Management, as well as a professional Master of Public Health (MPH) degree program. The School has 21 practice and training bases for graduate students.
The School continuously strengthens its faculty team, boasting an academic echelon with a reasonable age structure, high educational qualifications, interdisciplinary strengths, and strong research capabilities. It currently has 32 professors, 32 associate professors, and 21 lecturers. Over 90% of the faculty hold doctoral degrees, and more than 50% have overseas study experience. The School has 31 doctoral supervisors and 63 master's supervisors. Among the faculty are one member of the Ministry of Education's Teaching Steering Committee for Public Health and Preventive Medicine, one member of the Ministry of Education's Teaching Steering Committee for Medical Humanities Education, and one member of the National Medical Professional Degree Graduate Teaching Steering Committee of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council.
